“bringing Wireless Broadband to Indian Country”

Welcome to the Nations Internet Service (NIS) information page. We are the premier providers of Wireless Broadband to Tribes. Our goal is to provide you the very best in wireless high-speed Internet & digital phone service.

Our quality control standards are high. Our staff of technicians are among the best in their specialties. Our goal is always to deliver quality Internet service. Your satisfaction is of paramount importance.

The NIS program is based on a new communications technology called “WiMax” -- a wireless protocol developed by Intel Corporation at a cost of more than US$3 billion, and by Motorola at billions more. WiMax was introduced the commercial markets earlier year.

In optimal geographic and maximum power conditions, we can serve an area out to about 30-miles in radius with up to 10,000 concurrent users, although most installations will not operate in that maximum configuration.

The technology delivers several products, including high speed broadband internet access, Voice over Internet services (a very low cost local and long distance telephone that is usually called VoIP), and coming soon, cable-like television programming and mobile telephone service that mimics cellular telephone phone service but at much less cost.

High-speed Broadband Internet Service

NIS has designed a package that allows for private Native entrepreneurs (“Native enterprise owners”), such as a Native business, or local governments (“Tribal partners”), such as a Sovereign Nation or Tribe, to offer high-speed Internet Service and VoIP telephone services to Tribal members at rates that are typically 50% - 70% less than cable television’s high speed internet access or your local telephone company’s DSL packages. The Nations Internet Service suggested end-user pricing is about the same as dial up internet service. Our local / long distance service is very inexpensive too, at about $.035 per minute for telephone calls made to anywhere in North America that will save a typical user 50% to 75% on his long distance bill. That rate applies to intrastate, interstate, and all Canada calling. Next year, we expect to offer a mobile telephone (similar to cellular) service using our WiMax technology, as well as cable television programming.

Digital Phone (VoIP - Voice over Internet Protocol) Service

In addition to VoIP termination (phone service) to North America, NIS can also terminate telephone calls anywhere on Earth at exceptionally low rates.  It can also provide access to world-wide directory assistance, and in the United States, to enhanced 911 emergency services.

Tribally owned Communications Development

NIS will assist in arranging equipment and soft-cost financing for NIS Native enterprise owners and Tribal partners that will spread-out the upfront costs over several years.  NIS’s Native enterprise owners and Tribal partners do not need up-front capital to take advantage of this opportunity, although they will need funding enough to cover their sales and marketing costs while subscribers come on-line.

The Tribe is not required to have either a technical background or technical training. NIS primary purpose is to provide sales and marketing to NIS local community, while NIS can provide operational services and customer support. The Tribe can provide Tribal interns to learn to manage & maintain the operational services and customer support through the Tribe over the first few years of service.

With these service offerings, NIS can accompany installation, conduct testing, and train technical staff to operate the WiMax radio service in any pre-approved location in the continental United States or in Canada. Your Tribe will own the actual internet delivery system that will include radios, antennas, towers, head-end internet access, modems, back-up power units, etc. NIS can provide on-going services to the subscriber end-users including internet services, VoIP services, end user account access via the internet, e-mail service access (that will be provided by Google, Yahoo or MSN), and 24x7 customer service for both technical assistance and general non-technical assistance. NIS can provide both mobile telephone and television programming services as they become available.

NIS can charge our Native enterprise owners and Tribal partners on a “fee per service” basis for NIS products and services.

For the Native-owned enterprise, such as a private owned Native business, launching a new Tribal Internet Service business, NIS will provide NIS services to end users on a prepaid basis. The end user will open a new account on-line and fill the account with a credit or debit card for NIS estimated monthly usage. NIS cannot accept cash or checks, and it will not extend credit. The end user will receive periodic e-mails from NIS indicating the status of NIS account, and asking the end user to recharge his account when appropriate.  The end user monthly statement will be electronic, delivered via e-mail. In the event the end user allows NIS account to hit a zero balance, it must recharge the account before receiving general access to the internet, or being able to make telephone calls.

For Tribally owned systems (Sovereign Nations or Tribal entities, etc.), NIS can arrange monthly billing tapes so that the government owner can charge each end user account as it sees fit. The Tribal entity can provide this wireless service as an additional utility to NIS users.

The cost of the typical end user set up equipment is about US$200 which gives the user both internet and VoIP access. NIS’s suggested estimated monthly charge for the service is $19.95, plus $.035 per minute for long distance telephone service in North America, but of course the system owner (Native enterprise owners or Tribe) can charge any end user rate it desires.
